water filtering pitcher
The villagers of Leifeng, a rural town in China, are suffering and dying from the contaminated water in their village, which gets polluted with chemicals from a nearby wine bottling factory on a daily basis. Hundreds have died from water that has a thousand times as much fluoride than deemed safe by the Red Cross, along with other bacteria and chemicals. Young children have developed major diseases and tumors that will ruin their young lives and the lives of future generations. The government will not do anything to help their own people. The Water Filtering Pitcher was designed to empower the villagers of Leifeng and give them back a quality of life that we all deserve. The design focused on being appropriate for the area, including material choices, manufacturing, and possible business opportunities for the village. The downloadable case study describes the entire research and design process. The Water Filtering Pitcher won second place at the Silicon Valley Neat Ideas Fair. + ORTHOGRAPHICS + CASESTUDY
